Have you noticed that some people are better able to cope with life situations than others? That some people have the ability to “bounce back” more or less immediately, while others take days, months, or even years? This ability to “bounce back” and be resilient to external circumstances is called resilience. Everyone has a certain level of resilience, or mental toughness, that has been “given” to them. Of course, we can also strengthen it. How? With these ten things.

.Share your thoughts and opinions – Mentally resilient people talk about their thoughts, but do not try to convince others. Of course, it’s good to talk about your ideas and thoughts. Instead of forcefully convincing others, it’s also necessary to listen to others, thus building your character and wisdom.

.Ask for advice! – If you’re armed with “resilience”, you’re also aware of your weaknesses, but that doesn’t stop you from seeking feedback when you need it, and thus improving yourself.

.Have a vision, and you’ll see things more clearly – Mentally resilient people look forward, and despite obstacles that stand in their way, they move forward because they have a purpose that drives them. They don’t get stuck on obstacles. They see them as part of the journey – on that journey there are occasionally potholes (especially in Slovakia :D) and rocks.

.Live in the present – These people know they can’t change the past and that it’s pointless to dwell on it for too long. While some people do that, mentally resilient people learn from it and move forward.

.Work hard –f you’re mentally resilient, you can’t expect everything to just fall into your lap without any effort. On the contrary, use your time fully, don’t procrastinate work at home when you can solve it during work hours. Set your goals and gradually try to achieve them. Remember, gradually.

.Be a grateful person – Resilient people are aware that they are not alone in the world, and that other people or “something higher” contribute to their happiness and contentment. They are able to appreciate and express an attitude of gratitude.

.Learn to deal with your failures in a healthy way – Even though difficult things sometimes happen in people’s lives, such as the death of a loved one, divorce, or financial crisis, mentally resilient people try to prevent these events from becoming part of their identity. They know that these events make them stronger. They know that their story does not end with an obstacle.

.Be a capable person who can handle pain – I don’t mean physical pain, but rather emotional pain. If you are a person who can resist psychological stress, you can also manage pain and understand that instead of denying and avoiding pain, you are accepting a “lesson” that teaches you to be a better person. In this way, you don’t try to “numb” the pain you are experiencing. You don’t become indifferent. You just don’t let the pain become a part of you and completely engulf you.

.Learn how to handle rejection – It’s not necessary to take everything personally and act like “damaged goods” if something doesn’t work out, or if we experience rejection or failure. Let the failure give us the strength to put more effort into the next success! 🙂

.Practice patience – Of course, some circumstances sometimes prevent us from immediately achieving our goals and force us to “postpone” our pleasure, which can occasionally frustrate us. However, let’s not be discouraged. As mentally resilient people, we should be able to practice patience, be patient in achieving our goals, and also with other people. 🙂
